Richard Rotnem Scholarship Fund providing financial support for club members who seek professional training in sea-kayaking skills from a Maine coach or outfitter.

Training sessions with professional coaches organized by the Skills Committee are typically offered at discounted rates with subsidies provided both by SMSKN and the coach. Discounts vary, but have ranged from 20% to 50%.

Maine Island Trails Association (MITA):  SMSKN is a Business Partner with MITA, so all SMSKN members get 10% off a MITA membership. The Maine Island Trail spans the coast of Maine, providing small boaters with access to over 200 wild islands.  Membership includes the annual Trail Guide, MITA mobile app, social events, volunteer opportunities, and more.  If you are kayaker in Maine you will eventually find yourself on a MITA island, so we encourage everyone to join this worthwhile group.   Contact the Board President  (Janet Robinson) for the discount code.
